Buy A New Suit The Right Way

Are you thinking about buying a new suit? If so, information and contradicting advice seems to be coming at the consumer from all angles. Style experts and article writers all seem to be advising of the latest styles hitting the catwalks, but this does not necessarily mean that these are going to be the best choicees individually for yourself.

First, you should consider a color choice. When deciding upon color, it’s best to think about the suit’s primary function first: is your new suit going to be used for social events or for business? A suit that will be in perfect taste at a business event, such as a pinstripe suit, would likely be too conservative for social occasions.

Style is also quite important. You can choose between single or double breasted. double breasted suits have recently experienced a resurgence in the fashion world, and are once again quite in vogue.

You might even want to give some consideration to having a suit custom made just for you. When you have a suit created for you, you can rest assured that it’s going to fit and flatter you better than most off the rack suits possibly could.

There are a number of different fabrics popular with suit wearers. Of these, wool is by far the most accepted. It has so many qualities non existent in other fabrics that despite it’s cost, a wool suit should be your first choice.

Consider your surroundings when you choose a suit. If you wish to wear your suit every day to a hot office, you should steer clear of both heavier wools and linen suits, because heavy wool will make you sweat, and linen suits will crease after a days work. So for work, choose a wool and polyester blend which will give you the best of both.

Make sure to choose a shirt which can stand on it’s own, and a tie which coordinates well with your suit. There are times when you’ll be wearing just your shirt and tie, and you want to still look professional and collected.

Finally, the best advice in the world will be no match for a critical partner or spouse. When you set off to buy a new suit, if an honest opinion can be given by your wife, or even someone else’s wife, listen to it. After all, although it’s important to feel comfortable, it’s just as important to look good. It’s no good trying to convince yourself.
